The Vana Foundation is the entity that stewards Vana, open data infrastructure for human-grounded AI. Vana is a protocol layer through which individuals can contribute their data to AI systems and applications with consent, retaining ownership and control of their information.

As steward, the Foundation maintains the open-source protocol and is responsible for the security and stability of the network through its technical team and partners. It also supports the developers and researchers building on the protocol, and works with standards bodies and policymakers to advance open, consent-based approaches to data.

Since 2024, more than 1.5 million people have contributed data through the network. The Foundation operates as a neutral, long-horizon steward: it builds and maintains shared infrastructure rather than commercial products, with the goal of an AI ecosystem grounded in real human context that people own and control.
